DFN Gallery is delighted to present the
recent work of Jane Bloodgood-Abrams, featuring oil paintings on
canvas. Bloodgood-Abrams’ landscapes of the Hudson River Valley
continue within the tradition of Hudson River School painting
from the 19th Century. These landscapes do not
merely depict mountains, skies, and rivers, but rather use these
elements of nature to represent human emotion and experience.
Using a palette of golds and coppers,
Bloodgood-Abrams’ landscapes glow, exuding an intangible, placid
energy. In her painting, Confluence, the warm hues unite
the separate compositional elements of the painting. Joined by
a blanket of golden light, the lake, trees, and sky radiate with
a soft, peaceful warmth. Here, the artist does not just depict
nature, but engages in a dialogue with the landscape. Through
this interpretation, Bloodgood-Abrams creates a human connection
with her subject which skillfully portrays the transcendent
power of the natural world.
As Bloodgood-Abrams states in the current
issue of American Art Collector:
I am constantly inspired by
the landscape and its artistic heritage. In nature, there
exists deeply profound moments when one connects with a higher
energy and feels more alive.
