Artist's Statement
My subjects are hybrid creatures culled from a personal collection of comics, horror, science fiction, Greek myth, Beat poetry, and romantic literature. I depict them reflecting critically on the fantastic reality of their own existence. Endowed with a hungry self-awareness, they become more than the sum of their parts. As in Shelley's Frankenstein, I intend the creatures to exhibit qualities of introspection and emotional intelligence that at times could be considered superhuman.
