Artist's Statement
This work is about environments that create an alternative reality through sensual experience. My concern is in reconciling hedonism, consumption, excess, desire, risk, fantasy & naiveté, while the viewer is invited to navigate an esoteric atmosphere between hope and failure.

I am interested in exploring the potential for space and substance to represent desire, locating the “potential” of the fantastic within an everyday notion of the mundane. I ask my viewers to suspend disbelief and enter into a space of uncanny logic, where cotton candy becomes a symbolic incarnation of the sweet and sticky— entrapping pleasure and comfort within a cycle of addiction and indulgence. Video allows the transcendence of the physical limits of body and gravity, by activating a metaphysical state of projected longing. My floating figure gives the illusion of the ability to rise aabove the spiritual impoverishment of daily life.
